Metallica: This season’s new black
A step down from sequins, glitters younger sister. Less sparkle with twice the shine and the same statement? We’re talking “CHROME!”
This season were going out of the box and out of this WORLD, with Fall/Winter 2017’s metallic trend. Everyone from Saint Laurent to Paco Rabanne has incorporated shimmering metallics into their fall lines. From dresses to jackets, pants suits and shoes – the list goes on!
Is it safe to say that metallic shades are this seasons alternative to black? I think so!
The best thing about metallics is that they can become a hybrid when paired with any of the other trends for this fall season. We’ve got suiting, the seventies and the fluted dress that can all be accented in various chromes and metallics, created using an array of fabrics including velvet, silk, leather and satin. And no colour is off limits when it comes to Metallica, you can stay classic with silver or gold or take it far out with hues of magenta or purple and even blue. Trust me, this is a trend you want to be in line with.

Now, with all our stars aligned on this journey to outer space, we must remember to stay grounded and figure out just how we can style this trend for everyday wear. I’m going to leave you with a few tips on how to style streetwear Metallica.
1. Mixing Metals? That’s a NO
When styling your metallics try and stick to one colour to keep that statement – we don’t want to get mottled between two colours and risk overdoing doing it
2. It’s all in the details
Too shy to go full metallic? For some of us some trends are difficult to get in to and even try so this is where you let your accessories work for you. Add a metallic bag to your ensemble or even a metallic shoe – it adds the statement without taking you too far out of your personal style comfort zone.
3. Confidence is key!
Metallics are bold enough on their own- but what gives that extra shine is the woman wearing them. So hold your head high and take that journey to space with confidence… ’cause well, you’re a BOSS!
